Callisto is Jupiter’s 2nd largest moon, and the 3rd largest moon in the Solar System, measuring 4820 km across. Like all of the Galilean moons, it was discovered by Galileo in 1610, when he turned his rudimentary 33-power telescope to the night sky for the first time.
